On most Caribbean islands the estate-scale villas sit above the coast, because the shoreline was built out first and in small lots. Grand Cayman went the other way. The north-shore peninsulas stayed low-density long enough for large footprints to be built directly on the sand, so the biggest houses in this collection are beachfront rather than elevated — you get the size and the water in the same property.
That is the practical difference when you are comparing islands at this size. Here you rarely have to choose between a house that holds the group and a house that opens onto a beach.
Rum Point holds the most of them, on the shallow turquoise water of the North Sound where the swimming stays flat almost all year and the sandbar is a short boat ride out. Cayman Kai sits on the same peninsula and offers the same shoreline at slightly lower density, including waterfront estates on the canals where the water is at a private dock rather than a beach.
South Coast puts a few within about twenty minutes of George Town, which suits groups that want restaurants and the airport close. East End is the quietest coast on the island and the reef sits close in, so the water is protected and the snorkelling starts at the property. West Bay adds an oceanfront option at the north-west tip, facing the sunset.
Housekeeping is standard across the collection. Chef service, drivers and additional staff are arranged rather than included, quoted per villa and per week, so confirm before assuming. Minimum stays lengthen over Christmas, New Year and the winter peak, and the largest estates are more likely to price by the week than by the night.
The decision most groups actually face here is not sand versus hillside but north shore versus south. Rum Point and Cayman Kai buy calm shallow water and near-zero traffic at the cost of a drive to town; the south coast trades some of that quiet for being close to George Town, Seven Mile Beach and the airport.

Seven bedrooms and up. That is the point where a house reliably has a second living area, more than one terrace and enough separation for two families or a group travelling together. Below seven the choice is wide; above it the list is short and books early for the winter season.
The biggest estates in this collection sleep into the high twenties across en-suite bedrooms, with the largest on Rum Point. Capacity is set per villa rather than by bedroom count alone, since some rooms take a twin configuration and some do not. Each villa page states its confirmed maximum.
